When your computer boots up, the BIOS version is usually displayed, write it down. Then go to your computer manual and find the section on installing the CPU, look for max CPU speed. If it dosen't go up to 1 Ghz, you will need to contact your motherboard manutacturer with your current Bios version and find out if an upgrade is available to allow you to use a 1 Ghz CPU. If it is an older motherboard an upgrade may not be available.
