When I turn on my computer, Windows starts to open but hangs. This happened after I installed some new software. How can I restore Windows? |

If you are unable to open Windows, you can still do a Restore from the DOS Prompt or by choosing "Boot from last good Windows Startup". Both choices can be made during Bootup at the Boot Menu choices. |

One option is to use the "F8" key during bootup. This will get you to the choice for "Safe Mode" bootup. Once you have booted up in "Safe Mode" you can uninstall the problem software. A second option is to use a Boot Disk, Startup Disk, or Emergency Disk if you have made one. This diskette lets you salvage data, undo recent changes to your system, and fix many of the problems that prevent Windows from starting properly. |

There is the possibility that your system won't boot up in safe mode either. If this is the case, try the following: 1. Reboot, Press F8 and select Safe Mode With Command Prompt. 2. Log on using a Computer Administrator Account 3. In the Command Prompt Window, Type: %systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe and press Enter to start System Restore and follow instructions. |
