We would like to block IPs from spammers and hackers, what would you suggest?

There are several ways to block IPs. You can use your router settings, Windows firewall, windows IPsec or third party software.

At this time I will describe the IPsec method.
1. "Click on" administrative tools
2. "Click on" Domain Security Policy (if you are part of a domain) if not "Click on" Local Security Policy
3. In left pane "Rt Click on" IP Security Policy
4. Then "Click on" Manage IP Filter Lists
5. "Click on" Add (you will add a new list for your IP blocking)
6. Give your list a name "such as" (Hacker IP Blocking) "leave use Add Wizard checked"
7. "Click on" Add
8. The wizard window opens, "Click" Next
9. Give your list a description: "such as" (Hacker and Spammer IP Blocking)
10. Leave mirrored checked, "Click" Next
11. Source Address: leave "My IP Address" there
12. "Click" Next
13. Destination Address: "Click on" Down Arrow
14. Choose "A specific IP address" or "A specific IP subnet
15. "Click" Next
16. For a specific IP address, you would enter the IP address you want to block
17. For a specific IP subnet, you would enter the low end address of the subnet, then enter the subnet mask
18. "Click" Next
19. At select protocol, leave it at "Any"
20. "Click" Finish
21. "Click" OK
22. Once your are back to "Edit Rule Properties"
23. High-lite your new IP Filter List and make sure your bullet has been checked
24. Now "Click on" Filter Action Tab
25. Choose your action "Block" by checking bullet
26. "Click" OK
27. "Click" OK
28. This should provide the blocking you are looking for.

Any problems come back and let us know.
