When I change to a new theme, my custom icons are changed. Is there a way to prevent this?

This method works to prevent custom icons being changed by programs or themes in Windows 7.

Rt Click "Desktop"
Select "Personalize"

In the window that opens up
Select "Change Desktop icons"

In the desktop icon settings window
Uncheck "Allow Themes to Change Desktop icons"
