From your description, it sounds like the pilot gas valve is not being activated. This furnace has two control areas, one is the Ignition Module, the other is the BCC2 "Blower Control Center".

Sometimes the pilot light is small and hard to see, if you actually have no pilot light, the pilot gas valve is not being activated. If you are getting a pilot light but it doesn't stay lit your Flame Sensor is not working or your Ignition Module is failing and needs to be replaced.

Starting with Igniter is working and no Pilot Light. The Ignition Module gets a signal from the Thermostat for heat, it starts the Pilot Igniter and once it senses an Igniter Arc, there is a time delay and the Pilot Valve is activated. The Pilot lites and heats the Flame Sensor, the Ignition Module sees that the Pilot is lit, then another short delay and the Main Burner gas valve is activated. Once the Main Burner temp rise is detected, the Main Blower is started.

So in your case the Ignition Module is starting the Pilot Igniter, while the Pilot Igniter is arcing check to see if you have 24 volts across the Pilot Gas Valve Coil and the gas is turned on. If there is 24 volts, you have a problem with the Pilot Gas Valve. If there is no 24 volts, this points to a bad Ignition Module.

If you search the Web, you can find an exact replacement that is an upgrade from the original. The Model Number is G776RGD-14, you will hear that it is obsolete. This unit is still available, you will need to do some searching and I have not heard any bad reports about this unit. This unit is an exact replacement, no modifications required and it cost less than others.

Something I would suggest, if you have any doughts making repairs, call a professional.
