More than likely, Windows installed updates and then proceeded to re-boot. If you would like to change the way Windows Vista handles updates; click Start, type Windows update, then press Enter. Click change settings, then select Download Updates but let me choose whether to install them, click Ok. Now it should not re-boot without your permission.
